Ok, I just burned the iso file to a dvd, but when i look at the file, it is still an iso file. Did I do something wrong? the file that is on the cd does nothing besides open my cd burning program (sonic record now), and thats it. a tutorial or somehting would be nice :)

Burning the iso File to a dvd
I used Sonic and got the same result. Use IMGBurn instead. It's free.

If it is a DVD-R and not RW, then you don't have to format. I just put a blank DVD-R in the burner and clicked Burn on the IMGBurn interface.

One other thing - I set it to burn at 2x.

Save the DVD. Forget you ever heard of Vista until its released in stores. If you are having this much trouble burning a disc image file. There is no way in heck you will be able to deal with a beta test OS. Yeah, it might seem harsh but I'd hate to see you come back in 2 days asking how to get your current system back because you can't deal with how Vista is acting. Save yourself the trouble.

Perhaps, but like the OP, I asked for assistance in burning the DVD because I did not get the correct results with a specific burning program. I was directed to another burning program, and the .iso extracted properly.
I have no idea if the OP is installing Vista on a separate partition like I did, but to jump to the conclusion you did simply because of a DVD burning problem is indeed, jumping to a conclusion.
